Real talk is Cruciform’s mentoring program held in different schools in Hollywood.
The “real talk” mentoring program was started to create a space where adults and youth in our neighborhood could sit down and have transparent dialogue about everyday struggles and how best to navigate them. As an urban church plant committed to inner-city ministry we know that most of our teens live in single-parent homes where their parent is most likely out of the house a lot trying to make ends-meat. The enormous amount of independence our inner-city teens have because of the break down of our family units means them having to make right decisions before they fully know why. On the contrary, not making the right decisions normatively means entering into delinquency and the criminal justice system.
Our hope is that we would mobilize more and more people in our region to have intentional conversations with our youth about the real issues they’re facing and together come up with real strategies for how to win against all odds.
The mentoring sessions are generally held on a school campus and is set up to work around your schedule.
